If you're watching "Love Story," the Hulu limited series that dramatizes the romance of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, you've likely also fallen back in love with Calvin Klein. Bessette works at the fashion mogul's NYC office in the '90s — the days of Kate Moss, landlines, and incredible fashion.
As a 30-year-old who grew up in the middle of nowhere in New England, Klein was the only fashion mogul I was aware of at a young age. That's because it was attainable, but more than that, it felt aspirational. The "it girls" in magazines were wearing Calvin underwear, the jeans were sold at my local T.J. Maxx, and the name stuck around. My mom knew about the brand, I had Calvin underwear too, and even today I see celebrities wearing it.
With so many notable campaigns that have lived across decades — '80s Brooke Shields, '90s Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg, and today's Hailey and Justin Bieber, Jeremy Allen White, and now Dakota Johnson — the brand clearly knows what it's doing, and how to stay iconic.
