Season four introduces us to a whole new set of characters. "This season we got to set up and create the whole new world of 'downstairs,'" says Collins, referring to the staff that keeps the house running. "I chose the hair and makeup to reflect their environment, keeping their looks much simpler with natural makeup to create a distinction between the upstairs [and] downstairs worlds."
Sophie, the mysterious woman that Benedict falls for at the masquerade ball, is first introduced to us as a maid. "I kept her in a pared-back hair and makeup look for this," says Collins. "When it came to her going to the ball, I chose a braided princess bun with a four-stem braid."
Her beauty look, of course, isn't the only parallel between Sophie and a certain Disney princess. "There are definitely some references and similarities to 'Cinderella,'" says Collins. As shown in the trailer, Sophie sneaks into the fancy party, falls for the handsome man, and has to exit in a hurry, leaving behind a single glove that Benedict uses to try to track her down. Sounds familiar, right?
