The 31st Annual Critics' Choice Awards took place on Jan. 4, 2026, in Santa Monica, California, with stars like Ariana Grande, Teyana Taylor, Jacob Elordi, Leighton Meester, Kylie Jenner, and many more in attendance. It was a battle of the top TV shows and movies of the year, with winners from "Sinners," "Marty Supreme," and "Hamnet," but I have a few of my own accolades to give out. Most standout nail trend? Naked nails, as seen on Amanda Seyfried, Elle Fanning, and Kate Hudson. Best hair goes to Odessa A'zion and her shaggy curls, while Jacob Elordi comes in solidly in second place with his equally retro mullet. The "coquette hair" trend also made an appearance not once, but twice, with Jessica Williams and Mckenna Grace both rocking bows in their half-up, half-down styles. Meanwhile, messy buns dominated, most notably with Kristen Bell and Meghann Fahy putting their own spin on the updo. Did you have a favorite look from the show? "Oilplaning" Lets Me Shave My Sensitive, Acne-Prone Skin
|
We're all gathered here today so I can make an official announcement: I'm obsessed with "oilplaning." As someone with sensitive skin who still loves to exfoliate but can't tolerate regular dermaplaning, oilplaning has been the answer to my skin's prayers. For the unfamiliar, dermaplaning is a form of physical exfoliation by gently shaving off the top layer of dead cells on the skin's surface, as well as any peach fuzz. People love it because it makes makeup application seamless and skin-care products absorb better. My main problem with dermaplaning, however, is that I have sensitive, acne-prone skin – and typically at-home dermaplaning has led to some pretty nasty breakouts. Oilplaning, however, was apparently going to be the answer to my soft-skin-without-zits prayers. Ahead, I detail how to do it, what tools you need, and how it worked for me. — Renee Rodriguez |
