In Defense of the Mega Protein Boom
My colleague Chan Plante has been a health and fitness editor for years. So far in her career, she's tried protein coffee, protein sports drinks, protein tortilla chips, protein popcorn, and more protein soda than she would care to admit. Generally speaking, she says the flavors are on point (none of that chalky whey aftertaste), and she finds herself inching closer to her protein goals via snacks she'd be eating anyway. (A win is a win!) To be honest, I'd have to agree.
Sure, my expertise may not be in health and fitness, but I'm definitely loving the protein boom. After a long day, I'd much rather grab a handful of popcorn rather than drink a protein shake that's probably going to make my stomach hurt immediately after. To me, this feels like a good thing — but not everyone is here for the protein snacks.
