"Love Island USA" Season 8 is over, but we're not ready to say goodbye to the couples — or host Ariana Madix's stunning glam looks. Her glam team, celebrity makeup artist Carl Bembridge and celebrity makeup artist Krystal Dawn, pulled out all the stops, and the finale look was no different.
I reached out to Dawn and Bembridge to get the scoop on the special look they created for the season's final episode and it may just be my favorite one yet. "The 'Love Island' audience has really embraced the looks we've created for Ariana, and that's been so rewarding to see," says Bembridge, reflecting on the season as a whole. "We've done everything from short-hair illusions and fringes to glamorous blowouts, ponytails, and updos."
For makeup, Dawn would describe Madix's "overall aesthetic" as "bronzed, beachy, and fresh." "We wanted her skin to always look healthy, tanned, toasted, and dewy, with a glowing complexion being the hero," she continued. "While we'd change the eyes, lips, and color stories depending on each outfit, the overall feel remained effortlessly glamorous and true to Ariana."

For the finale, Dawn and Bembridge put their heads together, along with Madix's stylist and the host herself, to come up with the perfect look. "The inspiration really came from Ariana's outfit. The color palette was definitely the starting point for the makeup. We wanted everything to feel cohesive and complement the overall styling while still keeping Ariana looking chic," says Dawn. They ended up doing a subtle blue halo eye to match her dress with a dewy, wet finish in the center of the lid.
Madix's hairstyle for the finale was a bit edgier and more sculptural than she's done for past episodes. "I always feel like the finale look has to be something really special and really elevated," says Bembridge. "Looking back at Seasons 6 and 7, both finale looks had that mermaid-inspired feel to them, with braids, intricate detailing, and almost hair crowns sculpted from the hair itself. Ariana is definitely a braid queen, so I always try to work some kind of braid into her finale look if I can." He wanted to continue that trend of incorporating a braid but with a twist. "It still has those signature details and intricate elements that people associate with Ariana's finale looks, but this time it feels more elevated, polished and editorial. It's gorgeous, but in a very fashion-forward way."
