A Case For Forgiving People, Even When They Don't Deserve It

Almost 20 years ago, my Y2K queen Lauren Conrad delivered the line, “I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you” on an episode of “The Hills.” But as iconic and aspirational as that delivery was, it was something I could never relate to. The words "I forgive you" are simply not in my vocabulary, and if you do me wrong, I’ll hold a grudge the rest of my life.
But recently, I realized that may be a problem. According to a study from NPJ Mental Health Research, people who forgive more frequently tend to experience improvements in their overall well-being. Does that mean we should all be a little more apt to forgive and forget?
