Cynthia Erivo must not have heard of "bed rotting." The multi-talented multi-hyphenate came off a demanding back-to-back "Wicked" press tour and launched straight into a literal one-woman show. (Erivo is starring in a stage rendition of "Dracula" on London's West End.) And yet, she still found time to train for a marathon . . . and then beat her personal record.
Erivo chatted with Popsugar's Chandler Plante ahead of the London Marathon on April 26, which she would finish at 3:21:40. Though she faced a few roadblocks in her training process, Erivo has a nice perspective on its demands. "I have to sometimes explain that, yes, the training is work for the body, but for me, it's a real time for myself just to be left alone. It's a meditation," she said. "When I get to run, I take the time for myself. It's like me-time. I don't really speak to anyone, and if I'm on the phone, then I pick the person I'm speaking to."

It was as cute a meet-cute as could be. Megan Nicklay, 29 years old at the time, had made it from New York City to Santiago, Chile, where she'd spend the next few weeks completing a summer internship she planned over a year prior. Luck would have it that the man who owned the apartment she was staying at had a son — a son who was flirtatious, handsome, and had blue-green eyes that didn't decide on one color or the other. It was May 2025 and on this particular day, the two spent hours strolling and chatting in the crisp air, finally making their way back to the apartment that brought them together.
They sat in the back patio and string lights above watched on as Nicklay's newfound crush inched closer to her. "Can I kiss you?" he asked. Nicklay was gleeful, but as he placed his hand on her neck she flinched. One touch closer and he might have known right then: known that she was wearing a synthetic wig and had been diagnosed with cancer three months prior. — Shahamat Uddin
