This week, I’m obsessed with pressing “notify anyway.” Did I just say a few weeks ago that I was fixed on always being on DND? Yes. Do I press the “notify anyway” button like I get paid to do it? Also yes. Sorry, but there’s too much going on in the world to not notify people. The Alix and Alex drama (whose team are you on?), the Amanda and West situation, the surprise performances at Coachella, and, you know, the things going on in my actual life, instead of, you know, my parasocial relationships.
Listen, I see that you’re on Do Not Disturb. I know what it means. But sometimes, it just doesn’t apply. I have things I need to say, and people need to know. And before anyone tries to make this about boundaries — don’t worry. I’m not reckless. I’m selective. The things I’m notifying for are time sensitive. They’re emotionally relevant, and possibly even slightly urgent. (Unless we’re dating, in which case I’m notifying you at any minor inconvenience.)
At the end of the day, it’s not that serious. (Again, unless you’re dating me — then it’s serious as hell and you better get to responding ASAP.) Your phone buzzes, you look, you move on. Is it necessary? No. Could it wait? Probably. But did I press it anyway? Obviously.
