This Winter Solstice Wish-Burning Ritual Might Be the Key to Your 2026 Wellness Goals |
It's not always easy to put your faith in manifestation — especially not with the year we've had (think: the faltering economy, the rise of pseudoscience, a matcha shortage). But I'm giving it another chance this weekend, thanks to TikTok and some healthy delusion. On Dec. 21, the winter solstice (also known as the longest night and shortest day of the year) occurs. According to creators, this is the strongest night for manifestation, hence the ritual of the 13 magical wishes. It works like this: you'll get 13 pieces of paper and write down your dreams and goals for the new year (e.g. health, fitness, love, finance, etc.). On each day leading up to the new year, you'll burn one of your wishes and give it over to the universe. On New Year's Day, you should have one sheet of paper left, and that will be your focus for 2026. While we can't promise the ritual will work, it does seem like a feel-good way to bring focus to your wellness goals in the new year, rather than trying a bunch of different things to become a whole new you. And if you're interested in learning more about the power of manifestation, keep reading. |

In case you haven't had the chance to check out our Feel-Good Awards, now's your chance. In 2025, we let emotions rather than exclusivity be our guide, spotlighting only the items that moved us for the better. After testing a total of 2,138 products over the year, we pulled together the picks that brought us a legit dopamine hit when we needed it the most — in categories from health and fitness to home and beauty. As a health editor with almost eight years in the game, let me start by clearing something up: there's no one way to live well. I've always been more interested in how you can do so and feel good — no matter what that looks like to you. So ahead, you'll find the small but mighty items that actually improved our health in little ways, every day. They made us breathe easier, sleep better, hydrate more, and ultimately feel like our best selves. And now, we want that for you. |
