When "The Bachelor" alum Becca Tilley proposed back to her fiancée (musician Hayley Kiyoko) in Kyoto last weekend, Popsugar editor-in-chief Kesley Castañon had a wave of déjà vu. The gesture came about five months after Kiyoko had initially proposed to Tilley in Mallorca — about how long it took for Kelsey to propose back to her now-wife. And Kelsey has been a vocal champion of reciprocating the ask ever since.
"To me, proposing back to my now-wife was less about the spectacle and more about what it stood for: equal partnership in everything ahead," Kelsey says. "It mattered to me that she had just as much of an opportunity to say 'yes' to the proposition of marriage as I did. Reciprocation matters. It will always matter." |
