I take my holiday manicures very seriously. I start thinking about the design that I'm going to get weeks in advance and then strategically plan out on the calendar when I'm going to get my builder gel refilled so it looks fresh for the big day. This year, I decided to just go for a simple, rich maroon almond-painted nail, but Kylie Jenner's latest set has me rethinking everything.
The star recently showed off plaid nails by celebrity nail artist Zola Ganzorigt. The set featured an assortment of OPI nail polish shades in a cross-hatch pattern, creating a cozy and untraditional holiday nail-art design that's perfect for anyone who doesn't want a look that's too on-the-nose.
"She wanted something fun for the holiday and had a few different inspo ideas. But this jelly plaid design stuck out to us the most and we went for it," says Ganzorigt.
To get the look, you need the following OPI polishes or similar shades: Just Lanai-ing Around ($12), Put It in Neutral ($12), Drama at La Scala ($9), Less Is Norse ($12), Cliffside Karaoke ($9), Suzi The First Lady of Nails ($12), and Brown to Earth ($12).
Ganzorigt started with a sheer base, then mixed six different shades with a topcoat to give them a jelly-like consistency. From there, Ganzorigt used a striping brush to create fine horizontal and vertical lines across the nails.
If you're still undecided on your own holiday set, I suggest taking this look to your nail artist ASAP.
