Selena Gomez is married! The singer tied the knot with record producer Benny Blanco on Saturday, Sept. 27, in a beautiful ceremony in Santa Barbara, CA. Dressed in a custom Ralph Lauren gown complete with a dramatic veil, she looked like royalty — and her hair, nails, and makeup were equally classy and timeless.
For her special day, Gomez relied on her longtime glam team. Her soft, ethereal makeup was by Hung Vanngo, and her almond-shaped glazed nails were by Tom Bachik. Every detail was perfection, but her hair may be my favorite part of the whole look.
Celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora created an Old Hollywood glamour-inspired Marcel wave for the actor — and we have a step-by-step breakdown on how to get the look.
"In preparing Selena Gomez's hair for a celebration of joy, unity, and love, every detail had to be perfect," says Campora. After shampooing and a 30-minute mask, her hair was towel-dried and sectioned, and the Joico Dream Blowout Glass 72HR Frizz Fighter ($28) was applied.
Using a rattail comb, Campora created the romantic deep side part that really made the wedding hairstyle shine. After applying the Joico JoiWhip Design Foam ($23) from roots to ends, "[I] then blow-dried with a large round brush and pinned to set and cool," he says. "I continued this technique across the entire head to achieve a voluminous and polished base. Once cooled, the hair is noticeably shiny, bouncy, and full of life."
Then it was time to create that Old Hollywood wave. "Using a three-quarter-inch spring curling iron, I created a Marcel wave pattern, pinning each curl to cool and hold its shape. I repeated this motion across the front, then moved to the opposite side, and finally to the back," Campora explains.
The pins were left for 20 minutes to ensure the style was set before gently brushing out the waves. "Special attention is given to the face-framing pieces, which are shaped to highlight and enhance the facial structure," Campora says.
The final result was a wedding hairstyle as sweet and romantic as the occasion itself. For more details on Gomez's wedding day, keep scrolling.
