The title of football's MVP is always a contested one (think: Josh Allen vs. Lamar Jackson or Peyton Manning vs. Steve McNair). But when it comes to Diana Flores, there's no contention.
Flores is the quarterback and captain of the Mexican national flag-football team and is often referred to as the face of women's flag football.
She's been playing since she was 8 years old and has made it her mission to encourage young girls and other women to stake their claim to the sport. "For me, it's about representing not only flag football but also the next generation of girls who deserve to see themselves in this sport," she tells Popsugar.
As a global ambassador for the game, Flores recently starred in Under Armour's We Are Football campaign, making a bold statement that women have got next when it comes to the trajectory of the sport.
"It shows the world that football is truly for everyone, and that women have always been part of shaping the game's culture and future," Flores says.
She hopes that people will recognize that when flag football makes its debut at the 2028 Olympics. "You'll see incredible athletes showcasing a sport that's as inclusive as it is competitive . . .I can't wait for people everywhere to see the greatness of this game," she says.
For Flores, that can't be stated enough, considering that this game completely changed what she thought she was capable of. "Flag football has taught me that I'm stronger and more capable than I ever imagined. It's pushed me to trust my instincts, to value preparation, and to embrace the resilience that comes with being an athlete,"she says.
Her favorite part of it all? "Every game is different, and every challenge reminds me how much potential we all have when we commit fully to something we love."
