A mini Tabasco bottle hates to see Taylor Andrews coming. My colleague is an otherwise stand-up citizen: she pays her taxes, dotes on her dogs, and is an all-around nice person. But when she's on the town, having a bite to eat or out at a bar with a friend, it's like she's possessed by a demon — a stealth demon, on the hunt for any little knickknack she can get her claws on. (Or, more accurately, fit in her purse.)
Taylor's not the only one who finds herself helpless in the face of a tiny salt shaker or a novelty shot glass. Turns out these thieving proclivities are more universal than she realized; we all crave some low-stakes risks in life, and nabbing a pen or a coaster off the bar gets us our dopamine fix without too many consequences. Unless you're stealing from a mom-and-pop. That's just embarrassing. |

I Tried It: Cortisol-Hacking |

In today's featured column, Popsugar's Mercey Livingston tests her cortisol from the comfort of her home. |
I Tested My Cortisol Levels All Day in Real Time — Here's What I Learned |
Cortisol, aka the stress hormone, can play an important role in blood pressure regulation, body temperature, inflammation, and so much more, according to Akua Ampadu, MD, board-certified internal medicine physician and advisory board member for PS's Condition Center.
After learning how important cortisol is for a variety of health reasons, I decided to track my cortisol throughout the day. I knew from testing with my doc that my cortisol level had previously been off, and I was curious to see where it would fall now. The results? Well, let's just say that I've already started to tweak my habits thanks to the surprising results. — Mercey Livingston |
