Nick Jonas has always had to balance a lot. As one-third of an iconic pop-rock trio, it comes with the territory. But at age 13, that didn't just mean world tours and movie cameos — it also included diabetes.
Now, 20 years after being diagnosed, Jonas says he's finally learned to be at peace, instead of at war, with his chronic illness.
"I've had to learn at this 20-year mark to stay on top of it, do the best I can, but also take a step back from it and try to be present in the moment with my family, with my daughter, of course," Jonas says. "I'm not going to let it take over my life."
Three things that have helped with that: his Dexcom glucose monitor, a consistent fitness routine, and hot yoga. When it comes to the latter, "that's something I'm not an expert at by any means," Jonas says, "but it just makes me feel good and kind of uplifts my spirit."
