Gymtimidation is an all-too-real experience that can happen to anyone. But for plus-size girlies who are sussing out inclusive spaces, gym anxiety can be debilitating. "Walking into fitness spaces as a plus-size woman can still feel like walking into a high school cafeteria, holding a tray, scanning the room, and silently praying there's a seat for you," writes Popsugar contributor CeCe Olisa. "That's why I decided to do something radical. I signed up for classes at Life Time, a gym chain you might associate more with suburban moms and eucalyptus-scented towels than inclusivity." But after visiting six locations, she was pleasantly surprised. "If you're a plus-size person wondering whether there's space for you in fitness culture, I want you to hear this loud and clear: there is." |
