It's a headline that could've only really been conceived (and believed) in the past year. And as much as "Companion" tried to warn viewers, it seems many are cozying up a little too much to ChatGPT. Sure, there are tales of folks who've actually fallen in love with the chatbot, but this isn't one of those stories. This is about those who use AI to navigate dating and relationships — and lose themselves in the process. One source who spoke to PS recalls figuring out her partner of eight months used ChatGPT to send her a "happy birthday" text: "It was filled with words and expressions he doesn't usually use." She would soon realize many of his suddenly lengthy, well-written texts were AI-assisted. Another source, however, believes AI helps her better process arguments with her longtime partner: "Typically, I'll explain to ChatGPT what happened, and then talk about what feelings are coming up for me. From there, we'll decode how I'm feeling and talk through each emotion." It's a deeply modern dilemma for the age-old relationship roadblock of communication. Read all about it. |
