Merrill's Diverse Viewpoints research study, published in 2021, revealed that affluent Black/African Americans emphasized the importance of leaving behind an inheritance and passing down traditional values. For instance, 21% of affluent Black/African Americans said that inheritance and passing down wealth is part of their financial plan.
